Optimistic Thoughts: These two teams clearly don’t send each other Christmas cards as the physicality was everywhere in the second half of the game. Taylor Beck and Matt Cullen returned to the lineup, and Anton Volchenkov’s number was called as Ryan Ellis is out with a lower body injury. The Predators opened the scoring with yet another great play Colin Wilson to feed Mike Fisher in the slot which he smoothly kicked to his stick to shoot a backhander in the open net. The Predators were on the wrong end of a few penalties, but the penalty kill continues to be absolutely brilliant. The Predators grabbed the lead as Calle Jarnkrok fought off a defender to put home a rebound, and Wilson added another after a turnover in the third. Rinne was fantastic, shocking. The Predators keep winning no matter the circumstances.

Pessimistic Thoughts: Nashville has lost Ellis for a undisclosed amount of time which will inevitably hurt the play of the defensive corps. This was evident early  as the Bartley-Volchenkov pairing was outraced on a potential  icing which resulted in a Minnesota goal. The Wild controlled the play in the first period and without the Predators getting on the board with their sole good scoring chance would of went to the locker room with the lead. Nashville took too many penalties in the second period that hurt their chances to get a good flow going in their game. At least the Predators finally held a lead in the third.
