Mike Fisher out four-to-six months with ruptured Achilles

Mike Fisher

After signing Anton Volchenkov to a one-year deal, the Predators released a bit of rough information with the news of Mike Fisher’s injury. Fisher is set to miss the next four-to-six months after rupturing his Achilles tendon during a training session, Nashville announced this afternoon.

“Predators forward and alternate captain Mike Fisher sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during a training session and underwent successful surgery on Thursday, July 3. We expect Mike to make a full recovery in four-to-six months, and look forward to his return to the ice,” said Predators General Manager David Poile in a statement released by the team.

At 33 years old, Fisher had registered 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) last season with Nashville and was set to be their top center this year. With Fisher now out for the foreseeable future, and possibly permanently depending on what he wants to do after his contract expires this year, the Predators will need to assess whether or not a trade or signing would be in their future plans.
