Good morning! Here is all the hot sports takes around the Nashville Predators and the rest of the hockey world for Friday, June 20th, 2014:

Nashville Predators Draft Targets – Jake Virtanen – Our fourth target we look at, Virtanen could be a prospect that Nashville may get their hands on next week. Is he perfect for the Predators or is there more than meets the eye?

News around the Nashville Predators

Throwback Thursday: Enemy at the Gates –  When visiting teams bring a slew of fans with them against the Predators, the results are usually fairly interesting. Yet, in their home finale this season, Nashville had different plans and Thomas brings us back.

Poile Trying to Fix Predators Biggest Need – With all of the talk of top-six forwards by David Poile, what are the odds that Nashville actually addresses that need?

Bravo to Predators for bringing back bobbleheads ($-Wall) – Bravo indeed. I’m still pulling for a “Patrick Eaves Bobblehead Night”. While that won’t happen, “Carter Hutton Conference III Title Belt Bobblehead Night” does need to happen.

News around the world of hockey

Canes name Detroit’s Bill Peters as new coach – I’m intrigued to see what Peters can do for Carolina. A bit of an unknown commodity coming into his new gig, I feel the hire a tad strange. Peters has had plenty of success in the minors, like Kirk Muller, but we all know how Muller’s time went with Carolina. Will Peters’ time with the Hurricanes be the same?

Penguins GM Rutherford ‘real close’ to choosing the team’s next coach – Any coaching list with Marc Crawford on it I generally frown upon. While Crawford won in the past with a fully loaded Avalanche team and had success in Vancouver as well, the Bertuzzi/Moore incident will forever taint any reputation he had.

Avalanche has Paul Stastny, Ryan O’Reilly in plans if price right – If Joe Sakic thinks Stastny and O’Reilly will take anything less than $6.5 million, then I have a bridge in Florida I’d like to pawn off on him. Signing both could be bad news for the Avalanche, money-wise, having nearly half of their remaining available cap space locked up on two players.

Ducks don’t offer contracts to Saku Koivu, Jonas Hiller, Daniel Winnik – While Nashville doesn’t have a need for Hiller, Koivu and Winnik could be players to look at come free agency. Koivu is on the decline and approaching 40, but Winnik has yet to turn 30 and still could easily offer a lot to any team out there looking for him.

NHL makes significant revision to free-agent interview period rule – Teams and agents can now discuss general parameters of a potential contract during the interview period. That’s a game changer.

5 guys who belong in the Hockey Hall of Fame – You can’t argue with any of the names on this list.

(A note about these links: Thanks to the Nashville Predators PR department who helps put together the majority of these links that go out, they do a fantastic job putting them together)
