Predators vs Ducks, January 9th: Postgame reactions and tidbits…

Jan 9, 2014

Anaheim defeated the Nashville Predators 4-3 on Thursday night, here are some of our observations…

A very odd sequence of events closed out tonight’s game. Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen seemingly knocked the net off it’s moorings in the final seconds and an icing call was negated as the officials explained to the Predators that the puck was tipped on it’s way down the ice.

After possibly his worst game as a Nashville Predators player on Tuesday night against the Sharks, Matt Cullen bounced back with two assists. He did that in just under nine minutes of ice time (8:52).

Another strong outing for Craig Smith, as he notched a goal and an assist against the Ducks this evening. Those two points give him 12 points in his previous 13 games.

Gabriel Bourque returned to the lineup this evening after being scratched on Tuesday night. While he set up Paul Gaustad’s opening goal 1:52 into the game, he took two holding penalties, one of them proving costly as Ducks forward Teemu Selanne would score the game-winner on the ensuing powerplay

Nashville lost in regulationfor the first time this season when they ended the first period with a lead and when they scored three or more goals. They’re now 14-1-1 when leading after the first period and 17-1-3 when scoring three or more goals.
