Projected Goaltending Matchup

Jimmy Howard, 6-8-7, 2 SO, 0.910Sv%, 2.65GAA

Keep an eye on...

Nashville Predators -

Patric Hornqvist – Scoring his first goal since December 2nd, Hornqvist finally got back on track against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night. Nashville needs a healthy and active Hornqvist to get themselves back into the playoff race.

Detroit Red Wings -

Jimmy Howard – If Howard does indeed play tonight against the Predators, it will be his first game since a 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on December 10th.

Main Storylines

Nashville Predators -

  • Can the Predators continue their momentum from a wild 3-2 win against LA on Saturday?
  • Will Mazanec be able to string wins together for the first time since November 25th and November 27th?
  • What happened to David Legwand? No points in his last five games and two shots in his last four.

Detroit Red Wings -

  • Zetterberg played his first game on Saturday against Florida after missing the previous 11 due to back pain. The result? A goal.
  • Can Jimmy Howard come back from injury and help the Wings inch higher in the playoff race?
  • In their last game until the Winter Classic, how will they respond?

Last time out...

Marek Mazanec made 27 saves and Shea Weber scored the game winner with five seconds remaining in the second period to help the Predators to a 2-0 win against Detroit on November 19th.

One interesting fact...

Nashville has never recorded back-to-back shutouts against the Detroit Red Wings in their 86-game history. The only back-to-back shutouts in the series history were on December 20th, 2003 (1-0 Nashville win vs Detroit) and January 5th, 2004 (6-0 Detroit win vs Nashville).
