By Period 1 2 3 Total
Nashville Predators 6 9 15 30
Florida Panthers 9 8 8 25

Shea Weber opened the scoring at 9:23 of the first period, unleashing a bomb from the point off a feed from Mike Fisher. Weber’s first goal of the season came in his sixth game. Last year, it took ten games before Weber recorded any type of point (an assist against the Kings on February 7th).

Jonathan Huberdeau notted the game at one only 1:16 into the second period, slicing his way through Nashville’s defense and around Pekka Rinne. However, in a span of 42 seconds later in the period, the score would be 2-2. Mike Fisher’s second goal of the year at 12:48 saw the Predators grab the lead, but succumb it to Marcel Goc’s third of the year at 13:30.

The third period would belong to the Predators. Craig Smith would register his first goal of the season at 1:22 on a second chance rebound off the chest of Panthers goaltender Jacob Markstrom. Patric Hornqvist would increase the lead at 5:13 of the third with a powerplay marker, his second goal of the season. Matt Gilroy would bank a shot off David Legwand’s stick with 11:37 left in the third to make it 4-3, but that would be all as Nashville would win 4 to 3.

Notes: David Legwand played in his 900th career NHL game tonight
