With the NHL/NHLPA agreement to play in the Sochi Olympics earlier and the NHL releasing their schedule moments ago, here are some key dates to circle for the Nashville Predators 2013-2014 season:

1) Nashville Predators vs Minnesota Wild

Date: Tuesday, October 8th, 2013
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Ryan Suter and the Minnesota Wild open the home schedule for the Predators on just the third date of the season. After starting with a back-to-back on the October 3rd/4th, the Wild come to Nashville on the 8th for what should easily be one of the Predators’ most entertaining season openers in recent history

LAST TIME OUT: Minnesota grabbed a 2-1 shootout win against the Predators. Former Wild, now Predator, Matt Cullen scored the game-winning goal in the skills competition.

2) Nashville Predators vs Toronto Maple Leafs

Date: Thursday, October 10th, 2013
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

The Maple Leafs invade Nashville for their first trip since November 17th, 2011. Toronto is always a really strong draw as their fan-base travels quite well, however anytime the Predators and Maple Leafs square off is always an entertaining time.

LAST TIME OUT: Nashville routed the Maple Leafs 4-1, ending an entertaining night at Bridgestone Arena

3) Nashville Predators vs Chicago Blackhawks

Date: Saturday, November 16th, 2013
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

The defending Stanley Cup champions make their first trip to the Music City mid-November on the first game back home for the Predators after a seven-game roadtrip. It will be the first time newly signed Predators forward Viktor Stalberg will play against his old team.

LAST TIME OUT: Chicago survived a back and forth game against the Predators, capping it off with an overtime game-winner from Marian Hossa only 52 seconds into the extra frame

4) Nashville Predators vs Dallas Stars

Date: Thursday, December 12th, 2013
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Nashville and Dallas kick off what could be the next great rivalry between the two teams, including the fact both are in the same division now. While last season’s three games against the Stars were entertaining, including a nationally televised overtime thriller, Rich Clune’s presence took it to another level. Nashville’s agitator drew and scored on a penalty shot against Dallas on March 12th, adding to the lore that Clune has built since arriving. Not only that, but Tyler Seguin now plays for the Stars, adding a strong offensive punch to their lineup.

LAST TIME OUT: Dallas exacted a bit of revenge from earlier in the season, beating Nashville 5-2 at Bridgestone Arena

5) Nashville Predators vs Boston Bruins

Date: Monday, December 23rd, 2013
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Two days after playing the Montreal Canadiens at home for the first time since 2010, the Predators get a visit from the Boston Bruins as well. On the eve of Christmas Eve, Boston will come to town for their first game in Bridgestone Arena since a 4-3 thrilling overtime loss on March 17th, 2011. After signing a new long-term contract extension with the Bruins, Tuukka Rask will faceoff against fellow countryman Pekka Rinne for the first of two times this year.

LAST TIME OUT: Boston grabbed a victory over the Predators in a 4-3 shootout win on February 11th, 2012. It was a rare noon start time for both teams.

6) Nashville Predators vs Detroit Red Wings

Date: Monday, December 30th, 2013
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Leaving the Central Division for the Eastern Conference, and much better travel/start times, the Detroit Red Wings make their first and only trip to Nashville of the 2013-2014 season. Predators fans are used to seeing the Red Wings six to eight times a year, so seeing them only once could come as a bit of a system shock to some. While Detroit’s rivalry with Nashville didn’t quite get off the ground, the Predators did knock the Wings out of the playoffs two seasons ago in just five games.

For a team that has used Detroit as a measuring stick in their franchise existence, it was a pinnacle moment for the franchise. Any game where the Wings come back to Nashville from here on out will be an added bonus and a treat for a franchise that has been so used to playing against them over the last 15 years.

Another added bonus of this game? HBO’s 24/7 TV crew will very likely be in the building, as this game is only two days prior to their Winter Classic showdown against the Leafs on NBC.

LAST TIME OUT: Just days prior to the end of the season, Detroit grabbed a 5-2 win against the Predators. Raising them up to seventh in the West after that game, the Wings would finish the season there and play Anaheim in the first round.

7) Nashville Predators vs Colorado Avalanche

Date: Saturday, January 18th, 2014
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Nathan MacKinnon, Matt Duchene, and new head coach Patrick Roy head to Nashville for their first trip to Nashville of the season. While the Predators will play the Avalanche early in the season on October 4th, fans are waiting to get their first up-close glimpse of first overall draft pick Nathan MacKinnon.

LAST TIME OUT: Nashville took a 3-1 decision against the Avalanche on April 2nd, scoring three straight goals after going down 1-0 just a minute into the third period.

8) Nashville Predators vs Pittsburgh Penguins

Date: Tuesday, March 4th, 2014
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and the rest of the high-flying Pittsburgh Penguins head to Tennessee for a late season battle with the Predators. Their first trip to Nashville since October 21st, 2010, Pittsburgh is a rarely seen team at Bridgestone Arena, but always an entertaining matchup with the incredibly talented Crosby/Malkin leading the way.

LAST TIME OUT: In his first game back with the Predators that season, Alexander Radulov couldn’t do much against the Penguins. Pittsburgh routed Nashville 5-1 on March 22nd, 2012, which saw James Neal have a four assist night.

9) Nashville Predators vs Columbus Blue Jackets

Date: Saturday, March 8th, 2014
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Another first time back to Bridgestone for a former divisional opponent, the Columbus Blue Jackets will bring a revamped and re-organized team to Nashville. Serving as a “stepping stone” of sorts for Nashville over the past decade, Columbus has a new identity and a new conference to work with as they take their talents to the East. Blue Jackets and Predators have long been one-sided for the majority of their history between each other, which changed a bit last season as the Jackets took one of their few season series against Nashville.

LAST TIME OUT: Columbus won an emotionally exhausting and thrilling season finale against the Predators, 3-1, which nearly saw the Jackets earn their second playoff birth in franchise history. While it wasn’t meant to be, the atmosphere that night was just like a playoff match. Even with the taste of defeat lingering, Nashville did secure a Top Five draft pick that evening as well.

10) Nashville Predators at Minnesota Wild

Date: Sunday, April 13th, 2014
Time: 7:00pm Central
TV/Radio: Local

Last game of the regular season for both Minnesota and Nashville. With a spot for the playoffs possibly on the line between both teams, this could prove to be one of the more crucial matchups of the season.
