Nashville Predators announce formation of Alumni Association

I’ve always thought something like this would be awesome to have for the Predators sooner or later, looks like it finally happened.

Via the Nashville Predators PR Department:

“NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 23, 2013) – The Nashville Predators announced today the formation of the Nashville Predators Alumni Association. Several former Predators, who now call Middle Tennessee home, have been designated to serve as the Association’s inaugural board. Stu Grimson will serve as the Association’s President, J-P Dumont was named Vice President and Dan Keczmer and Jayson More will serve as Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

Serving as an extension of the Nashville Predators family, the Association was formed with some of the following goals in mind: promotion of educational programs for deserving young men and women, support of fellow Nashville Predators alumni and fostering a continuing interest in youth and amateur hockey throughout Middle Tennessee. Also serving on the Association’s board are Nashville Predators Sr. Director of Broadcasting, Bob Kohl, and Director of Hockey Operations, Brian Poile.

“There are a growing number of Predators alumni who now call greater Nashville their home,” Association President Stu Grimson said. “With that in mind, it made perfect sense to formalize our group in order to impact our community for the better while providing a network of support for past Predators players.”

Numerous alumni have been active over the past few seasons at a wide range of Nashville Predators initiatives including patient visits at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, hosting an Alumni Game vs. the St. Louis Blues Alumni, attending the Gnashvegas Casino Gala and Predators Wine Festival, attending off-season events like the Skate of the Union or dropping by Bridgestone Arena on game nights to sign autographs for fans. Some other active alumni include Tom Fitzgerald, Jamie Heward, Cale Hulse, Greg Johnson, Cliff Ronning, Scott Walker and Jason York.

“Given the tremendous growth of our organization, this was a logical next step to the evolution of our franchise,” Nashville Predators CEO Jeff Cogen said. “Our alumni have made the Nashville Predators what they are today and we look forward to keeping those former players part of the Preds family with the formation of the Alumni Association.”

Moving forward, the Alumni Association will be active participants in multiple areas of the organization, including hosting Season Ticket Holder events, interacting with sponsors and suite holders, participating in youth hockey and fan development programs and speaking engagements.”
