Through the history of the Nashville Predators, we’ve seen some battles that were, for lack of a better term, doozies.
Whether it was a scrap from Jordin Tootoo or Scott Hartnell, a near bench-clearing team brawl (SEE BELOW),
(Predators vs Red Wings – Fight Night)
(Predators at Flames – Goalie Fight)
and who can forget Wade Belak knocking out Donald Brashear?
Well, you can add another one to the Nashville Predators Fisiticuff Legends in the form of Brian McGrattan. November 17th saw the Toronto Maple Leafs come into town on their “every other year” trip to Smashville. However, what unfolded midway into the third period has been replayed many times, been added to highlight videos, and will never get old.
With 12:58 to go in the game and Nashville sporting a 3-1 lead, a mini fracas occurred in front of Pekka Rinne. While the two groups of players were sorting out their differences and exchanging pleasantries, another event was about to unfold:
Enter the stage: Brian McGrattan and Jay Rosehill
Out of NOWHERE, McGrattan and Rosehill start exchanging fists. I should probably re-phrase that:
McGrattan was delivering fresh knuckle sandwiches to the face of Rosehill. And Rosehill politely accepted them.
HockeyFights.com has this fight pegged as their top fight of the year and with McGrattan receiving 95.2% of the votes on the fight as the winner.
To this day, I have NEVER seen someone demolish a player quite like McGrattan did with Rosehill and then show off to the crowd afterwards. It’s a moment that most of us will never forget if we saw it live and I’m sure it’ll be a picture that will live on for quite some time.
