It’s summer and while we long for the puck to drop (hopefully) in October, it’s time to look at our 10 best moments from the 2011-2012 season (voted on by myself). We start the list on December 15th, 2011 when the Predators engaged the Detroit Red Wings in at the Bridgestone Arena.

Nashville was in quite the deficit come midway into the second period, being down 3-1 against an always-difficult Red Wings opponent. However, a Jordin Tootoo marker with 2:36 to play in the period would make it a 3-2 game going into the final frame.

With 5 minutes to go and the Predators down by 2 goals, the scene looked mighty bleak. Yet, Nashville’s red-hot powerplay (which had converted on 8 of their previous 17 chances over the previous 6 games) would get a chance to even up the score.

Enter the stage: Shea Weber

Nashville’s captain boomed one from the point via Ryan Suter to tie the game at 3 all with 4:24 left in the game.

But he wasn’t finished…

Less than 3 minutes later, Weber wristed another past Jimmy Howard, giving Nashville the 4-3 lead that they would hold on to for the remaining 96 seconds. Below are the highlights in all their glory:

That game seems like a lifetime ago. It’s hard to believe that game was in December. I remember that I was still lacking confidence in the team at that point. They kept winning, but they shouldn’t have been. I think that was right about the time the team went on its best run of the season. Was this game the catalyst?

    Regardless; Fun times!
