With 4th place on the line over the course of the current week, Nashville knew they couldn’t afford a loss if they wanted to secure home-ice advantage in at least the first round of the playoffs.

With Pekka Rinne apparently under the weather per multiple reports, it would be Anders Lindback that would have to navigate the ship for the Predators. Behind Lindback’s 25 saves (including 3 shootout saves), Gabriel Bourque’s goal, and Alexander Radulov’s shootout goal, the Nashville Predators earned 2 important points to vault them back into fourth in the Western Conference.

After a scoreless opening frame, Nashville would open up the scoring at 12:31 of the second period. Nick Spaling stole the puck away and delivered it to a wide open Gabriel Bourque who deposited over Backstrom for a 1-0 lead. Less than 5 minutes later, Dany Heatley would even the score on a redirection shot past Anders Lindback to tie the game of 1.

While the next 20 minutes and the extra 5 in overtime remained scoreless, the Predators and Wild would head to a shootout, which would be Anders Lindback’s first ever NHL shootout in his career.

Stopping all three Wild shooters and getting a big goal from Alex Radulov, Nashville was able to finish the game and grab the 2-1 win over Minnesota including the 2 huge at-stake points
