Nashville Flips the Tables, Score 3 in the Third on Anaheim and win 3-1

Nashville couldn’t find an answer for the Los Angeles Kings and their 3-goal third period last night at the Staples Center. Apparently a trip to the friendly confides of the Honda Center was the prescription that the Predators needed.

Going into the third down 1-0, Nashville rattled off two goals in the first ten minutes and added an empty netter to beat the Ducks 3-1 and sweep the season series 4-0-0.

Struggling to start the game has been Nashville’s m.o. over the past few games, and tonight it was no surprise. Getting the first powerplay of the game at 6:10 of the first, the Predators found themselves quickly down 1-0 before the powerplay ended as Ryan Getzlaf and Devante Smith-Pelly broke in on a 2-on-1 with Smith-Pelly finishing the play and converting short-handed.

While the second period had it’s fair share of chances, it would remain scoreless through 40 minutes. The third period is when Nashville would really get to work. Patric Hornqvist tied the game at 1 early in the third, scoring his 23rd goal of the season at 1:19. Mike Fisher wouldn’t let Hornqvist keep the goal lead for long as he would score his 23rd goal of the season as well, giving the Predators a 2-1 lead 10:27 of the third.

Nashville would finish the scoring with a powerplay empty net goal at 19:43 of the third from David Legwand.

The Predators come on back home for a Tuesday evening tilt with the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drop is at 7:00pm CST.
