Three second period goals and three penalties in the same frame ended up being deadly for Nashville as they blow two leads of 1-0 and 2-1 and end up losing 4-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Jamie McBain, Eric Staal, and Tim Brent all scored during the second period for Carolina while getting a breakaway score from Bryan Allen in the third to end another Nashville winning streak as the Predators lost a chance to keep up with the Detroit Red Wings and catch up to the St. Louis Blues this evening.
Nashville will need to go ahead and forget about this one and prepare for the Florida Panthers, who they meet Saturday evening.
Special Teams:
Powerplay – 0 for 1, 0%
Penalty Kill – 4 for 6, 67%
Best Play of the Game: Gabriel Bourque finds himself dead-center in front of Cam Ward and fires a shot and puts the rebound in past Ward to cut Carolina’s lead to 4-3 early in the third period
Worst Play of the Game: The second period
My Three Stars:
#1: – Eric Staal – 1 goal, 2 assists, +0 on the night. 3 point night for the Hurricanes star, showing exactly why he is one of the elite in the league
#2: – Gabriel Bourque – 1 goal, 1 assist, +2 on the night. Not a harder working man on the roster right now than Bourque and it showed as he’s now on a 3 game point scoring streak
#3: – Bryan Allen – 1 goal on the night. His breakaway, out-of-the-penalty-box, goal in the third was the deciding score of the night

I don’t think I like Lindback anymore. Rinne would’ve had those first three. He might’ve had the fourth. Those were way too easy. We don’t have a back up goal tender.
The Predators seemed to be very tired. Good that they got a few days off now, they really need a break. The second goal of the Hurricanes was questionable (not a clear handpass, but the puck was thrown in front of the net with the arm and it was intended so, it was not a lucky rebound).
