Pekka Rinne saved 30 of 31, David Legwand had his 100th multi-point game of his career with 2 assists, and both Hornqvist/Josi scored to give the Nashville Predators their 5th win in 7 games as they beat the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 on a rare Monday night tilt in Bridgestone Arena.
Rinne had a shutout bid running until the final 3 minutes when Kings forward Dustin Brown shot a puck that bounced off of both Ryan Suter and Mike Fisher before finding it’s way into the Predators net.
Nashville is back in action tomorrow night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Both of their new acquisitions, Andrei Kostitsyn and Paul Gaustad, are scheduled to join the team and take part in the activities. Puck drop is at 6pm CST
Powerplay – 0 for 1, 0%
Penalty Kill – 1 for 1, 100%
Best Play of the Game: Patric Hornqvist takes a loose puck rebound and nets it in while Jonathan Quick flailed to get back into his net. Hornqvist made it 2-0 Predators at 3:52 of the second period.
Worst Play of the Game: Something that you really can’t control. Dustin Brown’s shot ricocheted off of two Predators player and into the net ending Pekka Rinne’s bid for a shutout. Brown’s goal cut the Predators lead to 2-1 with time winding down in the third period
My Three Stars:
#1: – Pekka Rinne – 30 saves on 31 shots. I know I say this a lot, but without some spectacular saves from Rinne, the Predators would have had a bit of trouble containing the Kings tonight
#2: – David Legwand – 2 assists, +2 on the night. Recording his 100th multi-point game of his career, Legwand’s 2 helpers were a great addition on the night
#3: – Patric Hornqvist – 1 goal, +2 on the night. His first goal in 16 days (since the Boston game) and looked great in only his second game back.
