Weber’s 2 Goals Lead in Nashville’s 6-2 Route of San Jose

On a night where Shea Weber scored two goals and they grabbed sole position of the league’s best powerplay, the Nashville Predators survived an onslaught of shots by the San Jose Sharks while routing them 6-2.

Collecting goals from Weber (2), Wilson, Klein, Spaling, and Erat, the Predators jumped to a 6 point lead over the 6th place Chicago Blachawks while staying 4 points behind St. Louis and pulling within 6 points of the Detroit Red Wings, who lost to Colorado this evening.

Nashville is back in action on Monday night when they play against the Los Angeles Kings to finish out their 4-game homestand.

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 1 for 4, 25%
Penalty Kill – 3 for 3, 100%

Best Play of the Game: Pekka Rinne’s entire third period. Surviving a barrage of 16 shots in the third, Pekka Rinne grabbed his 34th, and career-best, win of the season and jumped to 8th place overall in Save Percentage in the NHL

Worst Play of the Game: A complete breakdown in the defensive zone allowed Joe Pavelski to find himself wide open and cutting the Predators lead down to one only 23 seconds into the second period, making it 3-2 Nashville

My Three Stars:

#1: – Pekka Rinne – 32 saves on 34 shots. San Jose could have easily been in this game if it wasn’t for Rinne. Hands down grabs the first star

#2: – Shea Weber – 2 goals, 0 assists, -1 on the night. Overall, a pretty good night from the captain, however he was on the ice for both of San Jose’s goals.

#3: – Colin Wilson – 1 goal, 1 assist, +2 on the night. For a player that could POSSIBLY be traded here in the next day or two, he’s definitely putting it together. Great 2 point night from him
