A 2 point night from Ryan Ellis was exactly what the Nashville Predators needed to get themselves out of a 3 game losing streak. Receiving goals from Suter, Spaling, and Ellis and 30 saves from Pekka Rinne, the Predators knocked off the Chicago Blackhawks, sending them to their 9th straight loss in a row.

While Columbus knocked off St. Louis tonight and Detroit earned their 21st straight home win, Nashville grabbed 2 huge points to make give them a 7 point lead on Chicago while climbing within 3 of the Blues for 4th place in the Western Conference.

Nashville can narrow the gap with the Red Wings to 6 points if they can beat Detroit this upcoming Friday at 6:30pm

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 0 for 3, 0%
Penalty Kill – 3 for 3, 100%

Best Play of the Game: Ryan Ellis unleashes a bomb that finds its way through Ray Emery’s pads with 5:42 left in the third period.

Worst Play of the Game: Nashville can’t get the puck out of their own zone and Marian Hossa makes them pay. Scoring at 6:05 of the third, Hossa would tie the game at 2

My Three Stars:

#1: – Ryan Ellis – 1 goal, 1 assist, +2 on the night. The Human Rocket Ship turned in one of his best games this season and he took the Predators to the moon and back tonight.

#2: – Pekka Rinne – 30 saves on 32 shots (.938 Sv%). Don’t kid yourself, without Rinne backstopping Nashville tonight, it could have easily been 6-3 Chicago

#3: – Nick Spaling – 1 goal, 0 assists, +1 on the night, 9 for 14 in the faceoff circle. One of the better games for Spaling in a while.
