Rinne Stands Tall to get Nashville a 2-1 Shootout Win Over Minnesota

When a team comes in losing 7 straight games in a row, you hope you don’t end up being the opponent they break their streak to. Through hard work, perseverance, and a little luck, the Nashville Predators capitalized where they needed to and drew the game out to a shootout where Pekka Rinne sealed the deal.

The win gets Rinne and the Predators back on track after losing 2 straight games while sending the Minnesota Wild to their 8th straight loss. After giving up 19 goals in their previous 4 games, Nashville gives up only a single tonight for their 11th one-goal victory of the season and the 20th game where the margin of victory has been one goal (11-5-4 this year for Nashville in those games)

HIGHLIGHTS:

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 0 for 2, 0%
Penalty Kill – 3 for 3, 100%

Best Play of the Game: Colin Wilson dekes Josh Harding over to the right side and roofs it from his left to give the Predators a 1-0 lead in the second half of the first round of the shootout

Worst Play of the Game: Colin Wilson wins both tonight! After an egregious giveaway 3 minutes in the third period to Kyle Brodziak, Pekka Rinne was able to stone him cold. Awful puck turnover from Wilson.

My Three Stars:

#1: – Pekka Rinne – 34 saves on 35 shots. Classic Rinne was in the net tonight and he was nearly perfect tonight.

#2: – Josh Harding – 24 saves on 25 shots. On the losing end of the goaltenders duel tonight, however he made some amazing saves when he needed to.

#3: – Jon Blum – 0g, 1a, +0 on the night. Originally credited with Nashville’s only goal of the night, it was later given to Jordin Tootoo. All around great game for the rookie.
