Preds Score Three Unanswered, Knock Off Red Wings 4-3

After a dominant second period that saw Detroit go up 3-1 before Tootoo made it a one goal game late in the period, Nashville made it a dramatic finish against the Wings getting two goals in the final five minutes to beat Detroit 4-3 in regulation.

Nashville has now won 4 straight games, which extends their season-long winning streak. The St. Louis Blues, winners of 4 straight as well, will be looking to extend their own come Saturday when they invade Nashville.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 1 for 1, 100%
Penalty Kill – 0 for 2, 0%

Best Play of the Game: Boy, when they say just put the puck on net and good things happen, they weren’t kidding. Shea Weber did exactly that and at 18:24 of the third it bounced and fluttered past Jimmy Howard to give Nashville a 4-3 lead they wouldn’t give up.

Worst Play of the Game: Maybe just a soft goal, maybe it was just the magic of Nick Lidstrom. Either way, Lidstrom wrists a puck from the point and it banks off the post past Pekka Rinne at 11:30 of the second period.

My Three Stars:

#1:  - Shea Weber – 2 goals, E on the night. Weber’s two goals (which could be contracted to one, however, if they’re reviewed for accuracy) extremely late in the third period turned it around for Nashville, giving them the huge win.

#2: – Jordin Tootoo – 1 goal, 1 assist, +2 on the night. On a torrid pace to swing right past his career season best of 18 points, Tootoo’s two points on the night helped Nashville when they needed it the most.

#3: – Nick Spaling – 0 goals, 1 assist, +2 on the night. One of those Weber goals should be Spaling’s, however his positioning on the ice made both of these goals possible tonight

  1. Terry says:

Spaling did a good job of screening on the second goal. I saw the replay though and he never touched it. It was an absolutely lucky bounce…and an awesomely cool bounce! Not sure where Spaling was positioned on the first Weber goal. It was on the power play. Not sure if he was even on the ice. It was Hornqvist screening. Anyways, awesome game! Very cool! Loved it! Hoping for more of the same on Saturday.
