When a team like Phoenix scores 9 seconds into the game, you know it may be a long night. Taylor Pyatt scored for the Coyotes very early in the first period and stayed on top of the Nashville even after the Predators tied it up twice to give Phoenix the 3-2 win in front of 15,638 in the Bridgestone Arena.
Nashville has now lost 6 out of 8 since dropping a 4-3 overtime decision to Columbus on November 19th and 3 straight games at home since then.
Powerplay – 1 for 2, 50%
Penalty Kill – 1 for 1, 100%
Best Play of the Game: Shea Weber tees up snapshot from the point during a lengthy 5-on-3 to tie the game at 2 at 12:53 of the third period
Worst Play of the Game: 4 Predators players got caught staring behind the net and Ray Whitney took full advantage of it. Taking a pass from Radim Vrbata, Whitney scored an easy goal at 1:40 of the third period to give the Coyotes a 2-1 lead while everyone else was still looking for the puck.
My Three Stars:
#1: - Keith Yandle – Game-winning goal. Gave the Coyotes the win tonight
#2: – Jason LaBarbera – 30 saves on 32 shots. Completely robbed David Legwand early in the third and the Coyotes scored just a few moments later. LaBarbera played lights out hockey tonight
#3: – Craig Smith – 1 assist, +1 on the night. Good game overall from the rookie
