Vancouver spared no one on the Predators roster tonight as they let Nashville have it with a 4 goal first period and a 5-1 win. Nashville, now dropping 4 straight games (2-3-1), haven’t been able to find any sense of cohesion or chemistry since the first two periods of the New Jersey game nearly one week ago. How many games will the streak last?
Special Teams:
Powerplay – 0 for 4, 0%
Penalty Kill – 2 for 10, 80%
Best Play of the Game: Matt Halischuk gets a sweet feed from the end boards and ties the game at 1 early in the first period.
Worst Play of the Game: Shea Weber earns a double minor, 2 minutes for boarding and 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, early in the third period. It wouldn’t be very surprising if he gets a phone call from Brendan Shanahan here soon
My Three Stars:
#1: Daniel Sedin – 1g, 2a, +1
#2: Henrik Sedin – 1g, 1a, +1
#3: Anders Lindback – 23 saves on 24 shots. Not taking anything away from Luongo, but Lindback faced as many shots in two periods than Luongo did in two periods and most came from powerplays.
I’m trying to stay as positive as I can and the only thing I really have for you is this:
We’re not even 10% of the way through the season yet
Just keep that in mind and we’ll see you again on Saturday afternoon. Expect our Predatorial game preview hopefully late tomorrow night! Looking for something to do before the game on Saturday? Drop by the Nashville Flea Market at the fair grounds and tweet me to let me know you are there! I won’t be signing autographs, but you can vent to me about all your Predators woes and thoughts

Stay frosty, friends.

You’ll see my attempt at venting toward our captain…just you wait Predatorial Nation…:^/
This was not Shea Weber’s bright, shining moment. In addition to the really bad penalties, whatever sort of leadership tactics he and the others are using are not working especially well. Maybe he needs to throw a few rookies around the room.
It’s hard to come out with specific positives after a crap fest like we put up last night. One positive is that Anders Lindback, who is apparently a Golden Retriever puppy off the ice, is a mean ol’ junkyard mutt on the ice. Just ferocious. You go, Lindy. Not much else to take away from this performance other than examples of what not to do. Turnovers, bad penalties, poor to nonexistent backchecking, the list goes on.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing for us to get frustrated. I kind of actually think the guys need to know that we care quite a lot what they do on the ice. But after we’ve gone over the bad stuff, and pinpointed areas that were particularly bad, we do need to remind ourselves and the players that all of the things that we want them to do are fixable, by them. If we just assume the season is lost, we haven’t done anyone any good.
I’ll never give up…but what is it going to take to wake this team up…the captain’s not doing it…apparently the coaches aren’t either. This team needs an adjustment quick, I hate to say it but with Weber’s hearing today, if he gets suspended for any length of time…that might be the call for change.
I have a pretty good feeling he’ll get at least 1 or 2 games. But what call for change? We’re not changing our captainship. Yeah, I agree we need a quick adjustment, but it usually comes after 6 or 7 losses in a row. We’re at 4, we’ll see them win next week
They’ll work out the kinks, they always do
No they’re not changing the captain, but what will hopefully happen is that the guys who’ve been struggling will think about having to play without Weber and finally find that determination they’ve been looking for. Especially the kids. Mike Yeo said it best about his youngsters. They need to stop thinking that losing is acceptable because they’re young and inexperienced. This is the NHL. It don’t matter if you’re young. Do it anyway.
And also, maybe it’ll get Shea to calm down, because he’s wound pretty tight right now, too.
Let me clarify…not change in captaincy…just attitude and execution which can be said for the whole of the Predators organization…I would never change the captaincy…unless we trade Weber then Suter gets it hands down.
