Another week, another Saturday night hockey game! It’s game night in Nashville as the Nashville Predators (6-1-0) take on the Carolina Hurricanes (1-4-0) tonight at Bridgestone Arena. The game has a 7pm start time and will conclude a very successful preseason for the Predators.

Rosters for tonight are:

DEFENSE: Teemu Laakso, Shea Weber, Jonathan Blum, Kevin Klein, Ryan Suter, Jack Hillen, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, Tyler Sloan

OFFENSE: Martin Erat, David Legwand, Nick Spaling, Craig Smith, Cal O’Reilly, Chris Mueller, Niclas Bergfors, Zack Stortini, Jordin Tootoo, Matt Halischuk, Jerred Smithson, Patric Hornqvist, Kyle Wilson, Colin Wilson, Gabriel Bourque, Sergei Kostitsyn

GOALIES: Pekka Rinne, Anders Lindback

DEFENSE: Jamie McBain, Bryan Allen, Tim Gleason, Joni Pitkanen, Derek Joslin, Justin Faulk, Ryan Murphy, Jay Harrison, Tomas Kaberle,

OFFENSE: Eric Staal, Anthony Stewart, Tuomo Ruutu, Brandon Sutter, Jiri Tlusty, Riley Nash, Zac Dalpe, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Jussi Jokinen, Tim Brent, Patrick Dwyer, Jeff Skinner, Chad LaRose

GOALIES: Cam Ward, Brian Boucher

PREVIEW: Nashville is going to be taking their final looks at their roster before making the last cuts and finalizing their roster for next Friday nights opener in Columbus. What should you be watching tonight? Let’s draw it out for you:

Defensive battles: Ekholm VS Ellis

Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis will be the two to keep your eye on tonight on defense. Laakso/Hillen will most likely make the team, in my opinion. With Sloan clearing waivers and most likely ready to be assigned to Milwaukee after the game, Ekholm/Ellis are the last two question marks left on the defensive aspect of the game.

Offensive battles: Smith VS Mueller VS Bourque VS Halischuk

In my opinion, Kyle Wilson is heading to waivers after this game and I think Stortini will get a spot on the roster with Columbus/St. Louis to start the season. This leaves Smith/Mueller/Bourque/Halischuk left to fight it out for what could be the last spot on the roster. I’m not even going to call this one. I think Mueller has the lead on the the other 3, but any of the 4 could potentially make the roster.

PREDICTION: No split prediction tonight from The Predatorial crew, Jeremy and I both think this one is going to end 4-2 Predators with an empty net goal
