Nashville may have given up the first goal, but they ended up on the victorious end against the Capitals again. The Predators continue to find the offense they need in the pre-season winning this one 4-1 and upping their pre-season record to 5-1

UPDATE: Per the Predators, Jeremy Smith was assigned to Milwaukee following tonight’s game

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 1 for 6, 16.67%

Penalty Kill – 5 for 5, 100%

Best Play of the Game: Craig Smith to Martin to…Shea Weber? Erat finds Weber streaking low near the goal, feeds him the puck and the Predators extended their lead to 3-1 in the second period

Worst Play of the Game: Mattias Ekholm took a stumble over that treacherous blue line, leading to a 2 on 1 and the only goal for the Capitals on the night

Players (Good and Bad) of the Game:
The Good: Teemu Laakso – I was extremely pleased with Laakso’s play tonight. If any of you follow Seth Lake on Twitter (@SLakePreds), he described it the best:

“Teemu Laakso has solidified his roster spot tonight. Great on PK, poised with and without puck, underrated physical game.”

The Bad: There wasn’t any particular player who I felt had an “off night”

My Preds #1 Star: Pekka Rinne – Yes, Wilson/Weber/Smith/etc. all had good nights, but Rinne played an amazing game, which isn’t unusual. Still, he garners the #1 Star of the Night in my book.
