It’s that time again, folks! It’s another gameday in Nashville as the Predators take on the Washington Capitals tonight at Bridgestone Arena. The game has a 7pm start time and should be a very entertaining one to say the least.

Rosters for tonight are:

DEFENSE: Teemu Laakso, Shea Weber, Kevin Klein, Ryan Suter, Jack Hillen, Mattias Ekholm

OFFENSE: Martin Erat, David Legwand, Nick Spaling, Craig Smith, Cal O’Reilly, Niclas Bergfors, Jordin Tootoo, Matt Halischuk, Patric Hornqvist, Colin Wilson, Gabriel Bourque, Sergei Kostitsyn

GOALIES: Pekka Rinne, Anders Lindback

DEFENSE: Karl Alzner, Patrick McNeill, Mike Green, Jeff Schultz, Sean Collins, John Carlson, Dmitry Orlov

OFFENSE: DJ King, Nicklas Backstrom, Troy Brouwer, Brooks Laich, Mike Knuble, Jason Chimera, Alexander Semin, Mattias Sjorgren, Joel Ward, Cody Eakin, Chris Bourque, Jay Beagle, Mathieu Perreault

GOALIES: Tomas Vokoun, Michal Neuvirth

PREVIEW: Currently 4-1 in their preseason schedule so far, Nashville is coming into tonight’s game with what looks like a more complete roster in an attempt to solidify the final opening night roster after the last 3 preseason games. All eyes are going to be on the 5 players that are actively trying to battle for a roster spot:

Teemu Laakso, Jack Hillen, Mattias Ekholm, Craig Smith, and Gabriel Bourque

It would be interesting if Bourque and Smith were paired on the same line, as they’ve had prior success this preseason when paired together. If that chemistry continues and produces on the NHL level, you are looking at a very dangerous on-ice duo.

Another thing to keep your eye on would be the play of Teemu Laakso and Mattias Ekholm. Most likely Hillen will make the Predators roster, however one of Laakso/Ekholm will be probably heading home this weekend.

Also, tonight is the return of former Predators forward Joel Ward in his first trip back to Nashville, along with former All-Star Predators goalie Tomas Vokoun. I would expect that both would get loud ovations when they hit the ice tonight.

PREDICTION: 3-2 Capitals. Ovechkin may not be in the lineup tonight for the Capitals, however they are going to get their revenge from being shut-out in their preseason opener in Baltimore.
