Bits and Pieces From Day 1 of Predators Training Camp

Here are just a few tidbits from the players and coaches that I talked to throughout the first two sessions. I had to skip the majority of the third session as I had a bit of a headache that was creeping up throughout the entire morning. Expect some articles over the next few days that go into more detail on some of these quotes:

Coach Barry Trotz

In regards to the first on-ice session: “I wasn’t happy about the lack of detail from our verteran players”

In regards to the first on-ice session: “Our timing wasn’t real great today and we’re going to work on it tomorrow”

Defenseman Teemu Laakso

Any extra pressure during this years camp? “Not really, like I said before I’m not going to think about it too much. I’m going to play as good as I can and hopefully that’s enough”

Defenseman Ryan Suter

Does your preparation get different from year to year? “You try to remember what you did the year before and build off it. The main thing is getting in shape. If you’re in shape, you’ll get out there and your skills will come back.”

Are you in shape? “So far! Pace isn’t too bad yet *laughs*”

Forward Cal O’Reilly

Sitting on the sidelines, did you learn anything from that experience? “Oh yeah, you get to see playoff hockey every day. You take stuff from that. When we get there this year, I’ll have that experience of being there for really two playoffs and I’m looking forward to this year”

Personal expectations? “I want to stay healthy and have a start like I did last year and just grow from there. Stay consistent and contribute offensively as much as I can”

Defenseman Jon Blum

Still perfect on the credit card game? “Yeah! Yeah, we took two nights off. We had a dinner with a person I know out here and the team dinner last night, so hopefully maybe tonight” [UPDATE - He's still perfect, now 6-0]
