Weber and Co. to Elect 1-Year Deal in Arbitration, per TSN

-----

***UPDATE: Ryan Rishaug has since deleted his initial tweet about the Weber camp accepting the 1-year award.***

Per Ryan Rishaug at TSN, Predators defenseman Shea Weber and agents Jarrett Bousquet/Kevin Epp of Titan Sports Management are expected to elect for a 1-year contract if both sides can’t settle on a long term contract before their scheduled arbitration on Tuesday morning.

After months and months of negotiations between Weber’s camp and the Predators, it appears that the second-to-worst-case scenario may be playing out for Predators fans in regards to their freshman Captain. If David Poile and Co. can’t work out a deal within the next 36 hours, then Nashville is looking at trying to re-sign their top 3 players after next season, which means Poile would almost have to be Harry Houdini to get all 3 signed to long term deals by the time Free Agency rolls around next July.

I still expect (and hope) a deal will be struck in the 11th hour between the two sides, however the way things are playing out right now it could be a long day and a half for all those interested in the contract negotiations (which means nearly all of the NHL and it’s fans).

Either way, these negotiations are starting to twist as much as an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

More news to come as soon as anything is released from either side or if a contract is struck anytime soon.
