Nashville just seemed a bit rusty all night, except for the brilliance of Pekka Rinne, and Vancouver exploited them. Vancouver got a second period goal by Chris Higgins and took Game 1, 1-0 to give them a 1-0 lead in the series
Powerplay – 0 for 5, 0%

Best Play of the Game: Chris Higgins roofed it high over a diving Pekka Rinne to give the Canucks a 1-0 lead in the second period, which proved to be the game winner
Worst Play of the Game: Whichever referee called the “clipping” penalty on Keith Ballard for his glorious hip check on Jordin Tootoo. Clean hit all the way. That was a terrible terrible call
Players (Good and Bad) of the Game:
The Good: Pekka Rinne – Luongo may have gotten the shutout, but it could have been 10-0 if it wasn’t for Pekka Rinne. Rinne is the ONLY reason Nashville had a chance to tie it at the end of the game
The Bad: Kevin Klein – It’s really tough to see Klein on the “worst player” end of my spectrum on a lot of nights…but if it wasn’t for his turnover the Canucks may not have scored that goal. Am I being biased? Or does Klein sometimes not think before he acts?
My Preds #1 Star: Pekka Rinne. HANDS down
Synopsis: Nashville almost looked in awe of even being in the second round tonight, as they came out flat and almost tired looking against a highly determined Vancouver Canucks team.
Nashville HAS to take some positives out of tonight, with a very dominant third period and that Pekka Rinne is back to his Vezina-esque self AND their penalty killing has returned to form.
So, that being said, everything is going in the Predators favor in terms of PK and goaltending, but Nashville has to not act like they didn’t expect to be here. Look for the Predators to bounce back very quickly in game 2
Next game is Saturday night at 8:00pm CST on FSN/Versus
My Prediction for Game 1: 2-1 Canucks (OT)
Real Outcome: 1-0 Canucks (Regulation)
Series Record: 1-0, Canucks lead
