TONIGHTS HEADLINER: Will the “Doo Doo”‘s Finally Be Silenced?

Chicago and Vancouver continue the Western Conference Quarterfinals in Chicago as Vancouver comes in with a chance to sweep the defending Cup champs in what seems like a one-sided series

Looking at the Canucks: 3 games, 3 wins. Albeit the last two games both coming by 1 goal wins, a win is a win in the playoffs. The Canucks may not have many chances with a man-advantage, they are converting on their powerplay (2-6). Yes, Daniel Sedin may have 3 goals to lead his team, but the other 6 goals don’t come from big names, however the entire TEAM is contributing. Vancouver is LITERALLY doing everything right at this point and that’s why they hold such a large 3-0 lead in this best of 7 series

Looking at the Blackhawks: Down, but maybe not necessarily out, Chicago is coming into the United Center tonight looking for hope. Two CLOSE recent games have the Hawks scratching their heads and wondering exactly what went wrong. Instead of someone being up 2-1, they are now in the greatest of holes to climb. Granted, Philadelphia achieved the impossible last year (only the third time in 68 years [1942, 1975, 2010], so we all know that it’s not out of the question for the Blackhawks to be able to pull out the same feat. However, when you have the Presidents Trophy winners literally smothering you at both ends of the ice….how do you find a way to win?

For the Canucks to win: STAY THE COURSE. You’ve won 3 games with the same gameplan, although it’s been a little tight over the past 2 games. Buckle down a bit defensively, and this shouldn’t be a problem. Also, with Seabrook out of the lineup, you have a chance to exploit a now-possible hole in their defensive unit that wasn’t previously there. Finish your chances, clog up the neutral zone, and forecheck hard and you may be getting you brooms out for a little spring cleaning tonight

For the Blackhawks to win: DIG DEEP. For any Preds fan that reads this, I’m sorry in advance, but do you remember Game 5 last year against Nashville? Nashville sure does. So does any fan of hockey in general. You KNOW how to come back when everything seems dead. You KNOW that just because everyone else says it’s over, it’s not. Yes, your lineup ISN’T the same as you had in last year’s playoffs, but you are STILL in the playoffs. Find ways to get Toews/Kane/Sharp/Hossa in clear and open territory and start feeding them as many passes as you can. If these 4, who are your clear leaders and can make or break an entire series, can get hot and get hot TONIGHT, you still may have a chance in this series. My only advice for those 4? LIFT THE PUCK TO THE TOP OF THE NET. Luongo is probably going to stop about 90% of the shots he faces, so make it a difficult shot to stop

Prediction: 4-3 Vancouver in OVERTIME. The Canucks still don’t take lightly the last two post-season losses to the Blackhawks and will exorcise that particular demon tonight as they handle Chicago in four straight games and silence Chelsea Dagger, and maybe a slew of bandwagon fans as well. The loss of Brent Seabrook for the Hawks, the ‘Nucks will be too much for Chicago to try to overcome.

BEST OF SEVEN Record: 3-0, Vancouver leads
