Regular Season Finale – Predators look for higher playoff seed in St. Louis

-----

The Predators continue their “best of 19″ series and their final seven games when they take on the St. Louis Blues in their regular season finale. A win for the Predators will lock the 4-seed overall with home ice advantage in the first round

Looking at the Blues: St. Louis comes into this game going 5-1-2 in their past 7 games and absolutely TEARING up the stat sheet, outscoring their opponents 36-18 in that span (including a walloping of Detroit by a full touchdown, 10-3). The Blues aren’t to be taken lightly and always play the Predators well, so why should this be any different? In the same 7-game span, their special teams are doing fantastic: 9-29 on the Powerplay (31%) and 22-25 on the Penalty Kill (88%). They are playing DANGEROUS spoiler hockey right now

Looking at the Predators: Nashville clinched a playoff spot Friday night with a big 4-1 win against the reeling Columbus Blue Jackets and the Predators aren’t finished yet. After a stressful Friday night of hockey, Nashville now knows a win against the Blues gives them the 4th seed in the Western Conference Quarterfinals and Home Ice advantage. What’s a loss do? A REGULATION loss could see the Preds as low as 8th in the Western Conference while an OVERTIME loss could see the Preds as low as 6th. This is JUST as big of a game as the Columbus game

For the Blues to win: Conjure up the same goal-scoring abilities you have had as of late. Halak has been up and down all year, so you can’t really trust him entirely, however if the Blues battle for 60 minutes and find holes in Pekka Rinne’s armor, then they shouldn’t have any problem taking this one from Nashville

For the Predators to win: Treat the Blues like a team not playing another game past the end of the night. The Blues are GOING home and staying there after the game, the Predators are not. Nashville WILL lock home ice if they win and you KNOW they are definitely thinking about that. So now, it’s time for the Predators to show WHY they are a playoff team and get that all important home ice

Prediction: 3-2 Predators. It’s going to be close, but Nashville will get the job done YET again and send the Section303 road trip home a happy group and themselves to a game 1 date at home at Bridgestone Arena

Playoff Outlook: 99 points, Currently 4th place

Best of 19 Record: 12-3-3

BEST OF SEVEN Record: 4-2
