Pekka Robbed Again – Pred-Killer Marleau nicks Predators in OT, 3-2 Sharks

Courtesy of ESPN

Another tight game, another 1 goal loss. The Predators drop their 8th game in 11 tilts, this time in overtime by a score of 3-2

Special Teams:

Powerplay – 2 for 4, 50%
Powerplay For The Season – 34 for 222, 15.3%

Penalty Kill – 1 for 2, 50%
Penalty Kill For The Season – 35 for 233, 85.0%

Best Play of the Game: Patrick Marleau’s game-winning drive in overtime. As he does what he usually does against the Preds, Marleau streaks down the right side and pots it right over Pekka Rinne’s left shoulder.

Worst Play of the Game: Not any one particular bad play really stood out that caught me off guard.

Players (Good and Bad) of the Game:
The Good: Pekka Rinne – It would be impossible for the Predators to even be competitive without Pekka Rinne. Night in and night out, this man just shows why he deserves the Hart trophy.

The Bad: Kevin Klein – When you fumble multiple passes on the blue line that lead to scoring chances on the other side, you know you are not having a good night. Klein is supposed to be one of our top defenders, but he’s having a lot of trouble here as of late.

My Preds #1 Star: Pekka Rinne

Synopsis: The Predators are collecting points in games…but they’re not finishing it. You just had a feeling that the Sharks, the way that they were swarming the net in the last 35 minutes that they would be taking this one home tonight.

As a Predators fan, it hurts. It REALLY hurts to stomach these kinds of losses. You can’t do anything about it but just hope they come home to Nashville and pick up the pieces of the puzzle that have fallen apart.

The Predators are losing ground in the playoff race, even though they are getting points. If they don’t start stringing together a large amount of wins here, they’ll find themselves on the outside looking in and booking some April tee times.

Next game is Thursday March 10th against the Minnesota Wild at 7:00pm

Playoff Outlook: 76 points, Currently, 10th place – 1 point out of 8th and 3 points out of 7th

Best of 19 Record: 1-1-2

March Record: 1-1-2

I don’t see how Trotz doesn’t win the Jack Adams this year. Only a pure coaching genius would see how pitiful the offense is and not only put Legwand/Erat/Ward back together but also use them on the power play. After two years of that line putting up around 3 goals, only his genius mind understands that eventually the line HAS to work if he just tries it enough times. Plus the brilliant move of going with youth and then scratching the one who has scored twice in five games yet keeping the one with 1 goal in 16. Not to mention scratching him so Dumont can play 6 whole minutes!! Throw in his new found love of calling out players in the paper and throwing them under the bus instead of coaching them to play the way he wants and is there any doubt? Barry Trotz = Real Man of Genius.

Where have you been Lethargic? Was becoming concerned. Parallel universes abound.

So, whose gonna be the new coach? Handicap any names yet?
