The Predators continue their “best of 19″ series on Tuesday when they come into the Shark Tank to try and slice up the San Jose Sharks
Looking at the Sharks: Four…FOUR TOTAL LOSSES in 21 games, and three of those were in regulation. Yeah, you remember how they were awful at the beginning of the season? Not so much anymore. This team is right where every analyst predicted them to be and it only took them 3/4 of a season to get there, but they are firing on ALL cylinders at this juncture. They’re averaging 2.95 goals a game in this stretch and their power play is converting at 22%. The team the Predators saw in December and January is long gone. The Sharks are already playing playoff hockey and it’s going to be hard for ANY team to get past them
Looking at the Predators: The Predators really seem to look like Gerald Ford at times, really good but always fumbling and tripping over themselves. Sunday night was another example. Great first period effort by the Predators, but they fell over their feet for the next 40 minutes and gave up TWO huge points to the Calgary Flames (who they didn’t beat once this year). However, the Predators got some great news! Trotz has called out some more players, this time Colin Wilson and some unnamed “young guys”. And when Trotz calls out players, this team responds. The 2 times Trotz has called out players by name, the Predators are 2-0-0 in the game immediately following it.
For the Sharks to win: Well, there won’t be much they’ll have to do to win if the Predators keep handing opposing teams the game. The Sharks just need to play 60 minutes. They’re going to come in angry after that loss to the Stars on Saturday, but they’re 7-1 in their past 8 home games (the only loss coming to the Stars). The Sharks swarm the net…CONSTANTLY. Keep that up and I see no reason they’ll lose
For the Predators to win: Consistency? Goal Scoring? Passion? Heart? Yeah, all of those things. Oh, and convert a power play too! That would help out! The players on the Predators need to grow up quickly and string together about 12 or 13 wins to make sure they get in the playoffs. Play with grit and play with some heart and soul and you may be able to squeeze this one out before heading back to the comfy confines of Bridgestone Arena
Prediction: NONE. I’m superstitious, and now 2-2-1 when not making predictions……wait a second….that is a losing record! I’m going to make a prediction here. 4-3 Predators. We get past 3 goals!
Playoff Outlook: 75 points, Currently, 11th place – 2 points out of 8th and 3 points out of 7th
Best of 19 Record: 1-1-1
Smarch Record: 1-1-1
What SportsClubStats Says?: Predators need to go 12-4-0, 11-4-1, 10-3-3 to secure a playoff spot
